At their last meeting, the PCC voted to update our current children’s area. In the next few weeks it will move into a light, bright area at the right hand side of the platform at the front of the church. Some of you may know this area as the south transept. It will be known as the Family Lounge. We have chosen this name because it says it’s for families to feel at home, relax and know they are welcomed and cared for. We hope that this will be a welcoming space for all families that use our church.
The purpose of the Family Lounge is to facilitate worship. It is not
intended to ‘occupy the children’ but to help them engage with church. By providing a special place for families in church, children will learn about it’s relevance, what the adults are doing and most importantly, that God is real.
At the moment we do not have a Children and Families Worker, so St Nick’s Kids will not be running in the Parish Hall on a Sunday morning. The Family Lounge will be important to help children and their parents or carers to feel welcome, engage in worship, express their spirituality and learn about faith.
Heather Marshall and a team of volunteers will make sure there are quality activities on offer and ensure the area is kept tidy, if you would like to help with this please speak to Heather or Rev Eira.
