At St. Nicholas Church and St. Barnabas Church a team
of Servers assist the
clergy with services of Holy Communion. They prepare and clear altars and
sanctuary before and after services and assist in the preparation of the bread
and wine at the altar during the service. A Server will also wash the celebrants
hands. Servers take part in other services, as and when required, often where there are processions.
A server will also act as cross bearer at the head of a procession.
Although assisting with services is an important part of the
servers role, it is also important to form a bond with God through regular
attendance at Holy Communion and private prayer. At St. Nicholas Church servers also act as acolytes and are
often seen in procession with candles.
