When the Parochial
Hall was built in the High Street nearly one hundred years ago it was a
grand building that was used by the church and the whole community for their
meetings, celebrations and entertainment. It is the only large hall at the
Castle end of the town and is now badly in need of some tender loving care. Over the past year a group of people from St Nicholas Church with
architects, planners and quantity surveyors have been working together to
discuss what is needed to rejuvenate this facility and bring the Parochial
Hall into the 21st century. Many people in the town use the hall for a
variety of activities such as meetings, keep fit, yoga, badminton and youth
organisations. It is an interesting building which stands in the
conservation area and is a feature of the old High Street. |

We see the
possibility of making the hall more versatile, inviting and attractive to
use. When it was first built it was the venue for lots of Parish and
community activities. Let's put it back on the Kenilworth map again. This is now our opportunity to bring the vision to fruition. We want
everybody to be involved. Raising funds in small ways as well as the
bigger events are all important. The working group have a long list of
ideas for raising the funds and you will have many more. Contribute
with sharing your ideas, running an event or getting together with friends
to raise funds. What we can achieve with the restoration is dependent
upon how much money can be raised. Keep watching for activities as
they are advertised here, in the newsletter and Grapevine and give them your
support. |
