 Parish Weekend 2007

Hothorpe Hall, Theddingworth, Leicestershire was the location of our Parish Weekend between 31st August and 2nd September 2007.  We were pleased to welcome Revd Canon Adrian Daffern, Precentor of Coventry Cathedral who lead three very engaging and entertaining sessions along the theme 'Hearing with the Heart'.  Adrian, who is also an accomplished musician, demonstrated the parallels between the soloist and our personal prayer life; the similarities of chamber music and being involved in small church groups; how being part of an orchestra is similar to being in a larger church congregation, but with the added question about who should be 'conducting' in church.

Over the weekend there was plenty of time to enjoy fun, fellowship and worship together or to take time out to find some peace.  There were special activities for our young people to enjoy plus plenty of free time for everyone to enjoy their own thing, from quiet walks to playing basket ball, table tennis, pool and football - but never a dull moment!

We came together on Saturday evening for some fun time, enjoying quizzes and a talent spot with poetry, drama, magic tricks, comedy and music all on offer. There were many highlights, including Mark and Craig getting everyone singing as they played their ukuleles!

After breakfast on Sunday morning, Adrian lead the final session before preaching at our service of Holy Communion and playing the piano for some of our hymns. Our final meal on Sunday afternoon was followed by Richard saying a few words of thanks and presenting Adrian with a gift to show our appreciation for his special contribution to our weekend.
