"Reaching out for God with love and encouragement"

Welcome to our website

Good Friday

Good Friday, 22nd April 2011, started with Family Praise in which some of our young people acted out the story of the last days of Jesus, with everyone making the journey for themselves by following the action around the church. The service was followed by drinks and hot cross buns.

At 10.45am members of Churches Together in Kenilworth held a service of witness in Talisman Square. Father Kevin Hooper of St Francis and St Austin's Catholic Churches welcomed everyone and said the opening prayer before we sang the first hymn, 'Hail, thou once-despised Jesus'. We listened to the Bible passage (Matthew 27:45-54) before the talk by Revd Derick Chambers of Kenilworth Methodist Church. After another hymn, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross", the prayers were led by Revd David Shippam of Heart of England Revival Church who encouraged everyone to gather around the cross and pray together in small groups. The Walk of Witness to Abbey End followed in glorious sunshine.

Once everyone was gathered at the planted cross we sang the final hymn 'There is a Green Hill Far Away' before the closing prayers by Revd Elizabeth Caswell of the United Reformed Church. Refreshments were served at the United Reformed Church after the service. All members of Churches Together in Kenilworth and District pray that the message of Christ's suffering will bring you strength and peace. May His rising from the dead bring you hope and joy.  Photos by Steve Cox
