What is Exploring Christianity?
Exploring Christianity is a course which provides an opportunity for
adults to explore the Christian Faith through informal discussion, led by
our team of group leaders. Topic areas are taken from the Bible and the
principles and practice of Christian Life. It is designed for people
wanting to know more about Christianity, those seeking to be confirmed or
those who simply want a refresher in the basics of our faith.
Previous course members have ranged from those who have
never set foot inside a church through to members who have considered
themselves Christians for many years.
One Couple's Experience:
|
We
decided to try the course after getting married. Preparing for marriage had raised a lot of questions and
made us more committed to finding out about the Christian faith.
We were both quite apprehensive about joining the course but
thought we should give it a go!
The first session was very welcoming and allowed
us to get more information on what the course was about and that
no prior knowledge is expected. We were relieved to find that we
were not the only ones ‘starting out’ and that the course was
aimed at a range of people. We were made to feel very much at
ease by the group leaders and we met others who were also new to
the Church. Each week there was some instruction on the topic
from the leaders and time for more open discussion within the
group. This became livelier as the weeks moved on. The focus of
the group was for us to gain our own understanding, rather than
being 'preached at'.
For us the main benefit of the group was getting
support to cement the faith we already had started to build. It
also ‘filled in the gaps’ on the basics of the Christian faith
that you might not otherwise get a chance to ask about. We were
also able to form friendships in the Church family |
When and Where we Meet?
The course will be held at 7.30pm for 7.45pm on Wednesday evenings for
approximately an hour and a half. Drinks and biscuits are provided. The
next course will commence on 11th January 2012 and lasts for 10 weeks,
with a two week break for half term. We meet at the
Parochial Hall, 28 High Street,
Kenilworth, which has been totally refurbished.
